Abstract Deadline 15/12/2025
It is the pleasure of the conference organizing committee to invite all academics, researchers, PhD students, engineers, and software developers from relevant fields to the 17th International Conference on Modelling of Casting, Welding, and Advanced Solidification Processes (MCWASP), to be held in Winchester, UK from 7-12 June 2026. Please save the date.
MCWASP is a scientific conference dedicated to modelling and observations of metal solidification and related phenomena arising from casting and welding processes. Since the first conference in 1980 it has been the preeminent meeting for gathering leading academics, researchers, engineers and software developers from all over the world to meet and form an expert community. The conference has a single track oral session across the five days, two poster sessions and plenty of time for social interactions where personal contacts, exciting discussions and sharing of recent scientific findings can be had.
Programming will feature all aspects pertaining to the modelling of solidification phenomena, including but not limited to: solidification process technologies (such as continuous and semi-continuous casting, shape casting, additive manufacturing, and welding); coupled multi-physics simulations; defect formation; fluid flow & heat transfer; micro & macro structure formation; numerical methods; data-driven optimisation & machine learning; as well as related experimentation, especially in-situ observation of solidification.
This is an all-inclusive conference, with registration covering all accommodation, meals, social events and excursions – including a conference dinner with entertainment located at the Great Hall of Winchester Castle. The technical sessions will include an honorary symposium for Professor Christoph Beckermann, a leading figure in the simulation of solidification phenomena and a regular attendee of previous MCWASP conferences.
More information about registration and programming will be released soon. To receive updates about the conference, please subscribe to our mailing list.
